Fall Adventures in YYC

October 2, 2017

Hello Lovelies
Welcome to October! Time is seriously flying by, I swear it was the beginning of summer just a few days ago… probably my major sleep deprivation kicking in, I am seriously tired AF all day, every day ugh! Anyhow…

We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful city with truly so much to do. There is something for everyone here and with the falling leaves and crisp weather come  festive activities sure to please the whole family.

These are a few of our favourites. Maybe you will have the chance to try one out with your friends and family this coming turkey weekend…

1. Granary Road

New to Calgary, Granary Road has something for everyone. A farmers market which features a wide variety of local goods, an active learning park sure to keep kids of all ages entertained and The Loft Kitchen and Bakery sure to please even the biggest appetite. We’ve been out to Granary Road three times now and Jack has had a blast every time. The active learning park is amazing and because each section of the park is different from the one previous he was entertained for hours. This would be a great place to take out of town guests or to bring the Grandparents to.

The Active Learning Park is open all week from 9am to 5pm! The Public Market is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 9:30am until 5:30pm!

2. Calgary Corn Maze and Fun Farm

The Calgary Corn Maze & Fun Farm has sooo much to do!  “Get lost and eventually found as you navigate your way through over 13 acres of corn mazes, mingle with our friendly barnyard animals at the petting zoo, play a round of mini golf, bounce on the jumping pillows, ride the tractor train, shoot it up with your friends in our friendly fire arena, take aim at the barnyard ball toss, watch the pig races, pick your perfect pumpkin in the fall, and so, so, so much more!” Again kids of all ages will be entertained for hours. We took Jack last fall when he was 18mos old and he had a great time. We plan to go again this fall and as a two year old he will have a totally new experience!

September 1 to October 29 Hours: Holiday Mondays (Sept. 4 and Oct. 9): 10 am to 5 pm Daytime Hours: Friday through Sunday 10 am to 5 pm Evening Hours (starting September 22): Fridays and Saturdays 5 pm to 9 pm for Flashlight Nights.

3. Sidewalk Citizen & the East Village Riverwalk

My ABSOLUTE favourite way to spend a weekend morning is heading down to Sidewalk Citizen’s East Village location. The bakery is AMAZING!!! The best place for weekend breakfast, in my opinion. There is something for everyone from delicious and delicate pastries, to hearty Mezze bowls or egg sandwiches served on the freshest brioche buns ever! If you go and can’t decide what to get, the Almond Croissant paired with a latte from Phil & Sebastien (conveniently located in the same building) is my go to. Now of course, if you are like us and have little ones with you the music inspired playground in the East Village is too much fun and just a short stroll from the bakery. We usually spend a few hours there after breakfast and then head home just in time for naps … the perfect morning! If we are without kids then going for a walk along the river after breakfast is a beautiful way to spend a fall morning. If mornings aren’t your thing you can head down for lunch and will be equally satisfied, check out the menu or scroll through their Instagram and you will be drooling before you leave the house.

This is just a small selection of what Calgary has to offer. These three are all chosen with kids in mind but we might have to do a post soon about adult only activities…(I’m thinking wine and some of the cities top restaurants, yassss this is going to have to happen). Alright, until next time…
